Zappanale #31 Exhibition: Am Markt 3, Bad Doberan
Finally Zappanale again ... and finally the exhibition that goes with it. As usual, we will offer you a lot in the rooms at Am Markt 3 in the center of Bad Doberan.
For the first time we welcome the cartoonist and draftsman Marko Nakari. The likeable Finn has been enthusiastic about art and especially comics since childhood. At the age of 12 he got to know and love the music of Frank Zappa, so that this passion has flowed into his work again and again for the last 30 years.
Of course, our unique Helmut King from Austria is also on board. Helmut's thirst for action has not been curbed in any way over the past two years, on the contrary: he is arriving with six new large-format paintings dedicated to Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, The Stones and especially Frank Zappa. In addition, you will be able recognize yourself in the installation "We Are The Other People" ... you can be curious!
Celebrating the return of Mike Keneally. We fondly remember Keneally's performances at Zappanale #13 and #14. Finally, Zappa's youngest offspring honors us again and shapes this year's festival with "Mike Keneally Report". Mike has now been in the music business for almost 40 years. In our exhibition we will examine what he did during this time.
We can't stop celebrating this year. After the Zappa Family Trust made our winters better with the release of the 50th Anniversary Edition of 200 Motels, we too want to take a look at Zappa's first film and show some rarities from the collector's archives.
From Friday to Sunday there will also be the popular breakfast events again. Live music in a living room atmosphere is scheduled from 11 am: Zappawoman Trio, Yasi Hofer Trio, Klangfusion, Die Miserablen Duos and Run Logan Run want to start the festival day with us. Co de Kloet will present his book "Frank & Co" and if all goes well, we'll welcome a very special surprise guest to the Zappanale for the first time on Sunday.
The exhibition takes place in Bad Doberan, Am Markt 3 (behind the Arf Office, above "Joe's Garage") and opens on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 2 pm and is thereafter open daily from 10 am to 2 pm. Admission is free.
