Superthousand
Active for nearly 14 years, the band from Gummersbach (NRW) released their fourth album, "four", on September 26, 2025. This 45-minute full-length release marks the trio’s most mature work to date; its songs grapple with the issues that move the world.
Emotion and depth, energy and rage, sorrow and love all emerge, carried by the raw vocals of Dominik Mertens (Vocals/Guitar) and bolstered by the energy of the bass and keys (Lars Dreier) and drums (Markus Missbrandt) – at times virtuosic, at times raw and visceral.
While the themes are familiar, the arrangements are definitely not. The band philosophizes tenderly on the origins of existence, while powerfully lamenting the tipping points – and their inevitability – that humanity now faces.
Superthousand takes the listener on a journey through time and space, singing of the challenges of the zeitgeist and offering companionship all the way to the end. These are songs that invite you to put on your headphones and tune out the world for a while.
