Det Skandaløse Orkester is a very stupid rock band from Bergen, Norway, with jazz, punk, folk, prog, humor, cabaret, Zappa, techno and football influences.
They are notable for being great musicians, but at the same time they look like complete lunatics. Not since Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention has the world seen anything like it. Wild energy, dancing insanity, crazy horns, absurdities and a guitar hero out of this world are things you will experience from this band.
Some of their songs are instrumental and others have Norwegian lyrics which often deal with the ongoing conflict between the normal people and the outcasts of our society. Others songs are inspired by scandalous incidents from the local press. Sometimes there is even a hint of political satire and they are fighting a heavy battle against the evil forces of Illuminati who are constantly trying to sabotage the band. But Det Skandaløse Orkester will never kneel for any authorities.
Their eclectic style has been compared to similar acts such as Frank Zappa, Mr. Bungle, Tom Waits, Samla Mammas Manna and King Crimson, but their own unique style and sound is truly something special.
They have released two full length albums: “No har de laget skandale igjen!” (2014) and “Tenk om noen ser deg” (2018). The latter was named the best prog album of the year in Norway. In 2019 they played at Zappanale for the first time which resulted in the concert film "Legends of Europe".
The last few years they have released a series of singles ranging from football supporter songs to protest songs, as well as their absolute concert favorite “Sandviken Hippiefestival”. In the fall of 2024, they are finally back with the fabled and retarded prog epic “Legenden om Boblemus”, and another EP titled “Masters of the Universe" is set to be released in 2025, featuring classic cover songs from television, movies, computer games, and artists such as Frank Zappa and 50 Hertz.
