Many members of the Arf Society e.V. meet annually on the grounds of the racecourse Bad Doberan to enjoy the Zappanale there.
So it is obvious to hold a meeting at the place where the members of the Arf Society e.V. from all countries meet.
On March 20th 1993 the Arf-Society, the Frank Zappa Fan Club of the biggest Frank Zappa fan community in Europe and worldwide, was founded in Bad Doberan.
The club stands for our deep respect of the creative & musical work of Mr. Frank Zappa. We feel connected to his life's work and we honor his outstanding position as a significant composer and musician of the modern 20th century. It is our endeavor to keep his musical work and legacy alive.
Therefore, the purpose of the association is also the support of Zappa - contemporary music with the unique Zappanale, which has been held annually since 1989, especially that of the former group and musicians of "Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention". Here multilayered older and younger artists perform in front of and with an enthusiastic and loyal audience.
