"Ensemble Ambrosius“ was founded 1995 and consists of seven young musicians around Olli Virtaperko; they interpret and compose contemporary music. They play solely acustic baroque instruments like baroque cello, baroque violin, organ, harpsichord, celestette or accordeon and the finisch kantele (a dulcimer which owns witchery, as mythology tolds).
Together with Zappa alumni Napoleon Murphy Brock who performed as lead singer and sax player at the legendary formation "Mothers of Invention" the "Ensemble Ambrosius" rehearsed the special program "Zappa - strictly baroque" for St. Katharinen. They will perform works of the US composer and rock musician Frank Zappa (1940 - 1993) as well as own compositions.
The proceeds of the benefit concert will go again to the trust Johann Sebastian Bach (SJS) who is actually funding "an organ for Bach in St. Katharinen". Event Manager Fritz Rau who brought the US rebel Frank Zappa in the 60's for the first time to Germany is judging: "Zappa and Bach in St. Katharinen go well together, both are exceptional musicians."

There exist already two benefit CD releases of the SJS Edition: The concert with the US formation "Bogus Pomp" (2008) and the concert "Zappa - unplugged" (2009) with the german band "Sheik Yerbouti".
