From now on the price for festival tickets for Zappanale #23 is 125,- € till the end of the year. From next year on the regular pre-sales will start and tickets then will cost 135,- €.

That's been fast: Nearly all Early-Bird-Tickets are already gone: Only 15 left... So if you're planning to come to Zappanale #23 in August 2012 anyway you should act quickly, because... once it's gone, it's gone!

Soon we will present you the first bands. Those of you who want to know who's performing at Zappanale before buying tickets will pay 125 € for the tickets until end of the year. Then the regular pre-sale wil start with 135 € per festival ticket.

And as always: Buy ten - get one free. If you choose 20, you will get 2 tickets free, and so on!

» New date for Zappanale #23: August 1-4, 2012

Fixed date... pre-sales will start soon! That's what we promised, that's how we planned it, but it wasn't meant to be.

Arf Society is not responsible for the reasons why we have to change the date for Zappanale #23. Please be prepared to attend the festival from August 1-4, 2012 (yes, it's still Wednesday to Saturday!).

We tried hard to organize this festival very soon so that we could present you names and offer you Early-Bird-Tickets at an early stage. But we have to accept that there are other events at the racecourt which have a longer tradition than Zappanale and so prior claims, too.

For us it means that we have to start all over again, negotiating again with already booked bands, withdrawing the already printed tickets and awaiting a lot of critical guestbook entries.

Be that as it may. We have to live with it... and maybe one or the other can live with it, too, regarding holidays when looking into the calendar.

But there are good news, too! From now on you can order your Early-Bird-Ticket (limited 150 piece - 115,00 €)by mail. And soon the shop will be online as well!

» What about the tickets? ...

... You are waiting for the announced pre-sale. Unfortunately we need some more time: There are reasons Arf Society is not responsible for and so has no influence.

And there are even worse news: Because of these reasons it seems that the announced date for Zappanale #23 has to be changed.

So we can't announce any bands either right now. Only when the date is really fixed we can book the bands and present them to you. We keep you informed.

time is flying. Only four weeks have passed since Zappanale #22 but we can announce today that the first 150 tickets  with special price for our next festival in August 2012 will be available already  in October.

» Starting Shot for Zappanale 2012

Dear friends of good music,

just a couple of days ago we had the starting shot for Zappanale #23. The preparations for the pre-sale are going on high level, pre-sale will start in October. The first bands are already booked.

First of all here are the most important news you need for making plans:

Date: Wednesday, august 15^th 2012 – Saturday, august 18^th 2012

Place: Racetrack Bad Doberan !!!

Yes you'r right, next Zappanale will end up to now in the early Sunday morning. We don't know up to now if there will be more performances on Sunday.

Yes you'r right again, Zappanale starts right away Wednesday on the Racetrack. There won't be any performances downtown Bad Doberan. We will start on Wednesday with the Truckstage. Mainstage is already starting on Thursday.

Lectures will be held in the "Green Tent", it will be much more comfortable for all of your's to listen to Jim Cohen and Ben Watson while you are on the Racetrack.

Campinggrounds already open on Monday, august 13^th 2012, so all of you will have the chance to make a whole week holiday on the beach in Bad Doberan.

Please note: The campingground is only open for festivalticket holders.

» Gail lost suit against Rykodisc

In 2008, the ZFT filed suit in the Southern District of New York against Rykodisc for alleged copyright and trademark infringement arising out of the label’s alleged unlawful use of Frank’s recordings (notably, the Strictly Commercial compilation). Ryko counterclaimed (citing the sale of ringtones, MOFO, Lumpy Money and the vinyl version of Hot Rats by the ZFT). On 17 August 2011, Ryko won ‘Part Judgment on Claims Of Infringement’ - the very same day the ZFT’s claims against Zappanale were taken to a higher court. The Torture never stops! – Zappanale goes BGH

Kaum ist die Zappanale vorbei, holt uns das “normale” Leben wieder ein. Soeben erreichte uns die Nachricht, dass der I. Zivilsenat des Bundesgerichtshofs am 17. August 2011 folgenden Beschluss gefasst hat:

Auf die Nichtzulassungsbeschwerde des Klägers wird die Revision gegen das Urteil des 20. Zivilsenats des Oberlandesgerichts Düsseldorf vom 15. Juni 2010 zugelassen.

Von einer Begründung wird gemäß § 544 Abs. 4 Satz 2, 2. Halbsatz ZPO abgesehen.

Wieder muss Energie für einen unsinnigen Streit verschwendet werden der schon längst aus der Welt geschafft sein könnte wenn Gail Zappa sich auch nur einmal den Fans öffnen würde.

Wir werden weiter für den Erhalt der Zappanale kämpfen!

It's been a great performance on Saturday night at 22nd Zappanale in Bad Doberan. But neither the audience nor the organizer suspected that it would be a historic concert of legendary jazz rock band Colosseum: Jon Hiseman, founder of the band, announced the end of Colosseum to Jörg Wulf (Arf-Society) and Jens Theo Müller (Radio der von Neil Young Getöteten): "It seems that the band has reached its end here. Barbara (Thompson) has Parkinson Desease and it's hard for her to play, and I can't go on tour and leave her at home alone."

» Zappanale #22 - over again

My thanks go to all the artists, many hard-working hands on and off stage, and all those who make quietly work in the background to ensure that everything runs smoothly and not noticed by the public.

Very special thanks also to our wonderful audience that remains loyal and this year again absolutely peacefully celebrated as a great family.

Suggestions and criticism are welcome, just so we can improve what is improving.

The next Zappanale is planned for 17-19 August 2012. A final confirmation by the end of September.
