Niklas Lychou and Magnus Liljeqvist are from Sweden. They already played at Zappanale with the Arne frukts kvartett. Now they will perform as duet with their guitars on Mystery Stage, interpreting Zappa songs. We asked them some questions:

WebCrew: Why the hell Frank Zappa?

Niklas Lychou: Why the hell not?? We grew up in families with great interest in music, listening to a wide range of music styles. We both got into Zappa’s music by the age of 14-15, and have loved it since then.

WebCrew: What happend to Arne frukts kvartett?

Niklas Lychou: The band had been changing members for almost every position in the band several times. Members were moving to different parts of the country and Kleerup got his own pop/rockstar carreer working, together with Robyn and others, just as keyboardist Elofsson. It was unfortunately impossible to keep that wheel rolling.

WebCrew: What can we expect?

Niklas Lychou: MagNiFZnt will deliver a musically naked but dynamic performance of FZ material. With 2 guitars and our 2 voices we try to create a good mix of Zappa’s sing-alongs and the more complex works.

WebCrew: What does it mean for you playing at Zappanale?

Niklas Lychou: For us it is a true honor to play at Zappanale!

WebCrew: Anything else that people should know about MagNiFZnt?

Niklas Lychou: At the age of 12-13 we began to meet in different local music productions. In the mid 80’s we even had a rock band together called Pandemonium.  We also have a common background in the same band, well known for Zappanale guests,  Arne  Frukts kvartett. We even had the same position as vocalist/guitarist, but never at the same time.
