In 1973 SANDRO OLIVA founded his first band. The guitarist, singer, composer and songwriter went on tour with his musicians to Italy and South America with a bizarre mixture of Jazz, Rock'n'Roll and saritic lyrics. In the 80's  SANDRO OLIVA relased two albums with the "BLUE PAMPURIO´s".

Appearances on TV were following, a 45 minute long live special, concerts all over Italy. In 1990 the magazine "FARE MUSICA" nominated him the best independent musician.

In 1993 he joined the "GRANDMOTHERS" . Together with DON PRESTON, JIMMY CARL BLACK, BUNK GARDNER and ENER BLADEZIPPER he toured all over the world. In 1994  his album  "WHO THE FUCK IS SANDRO OLIVA?" was released in Germany. After the studio album "WHO COULD IMAGINE?" with the "GRANDMOTHERS" was finished he was occupied exclusively with his solo project.

My new program includes many of Zappa old numbers, approximately from the Garrick Theatre era (we gave a little sample of it last year with Essra, though we didn't have our precious sax player/lead singer).

Brown Shoes, Sleeping in a jar, Call Any Vegetable, Hungry Freaks Daddy, Mr.GreenGenes, Help I'm A Rock, stuff from Ruben & the Jets... and lots of the "hand signal" improvisations that I had re-introduced in the GrandMothers shows in the '90s.

And a few of my own tunes too, but for Zappanale I'll choose only the ones which I used to perform with the Grandmothers (which people requested even last year when I was with Essra, that was amazing!!), or the ones which have a 100percent Zappa feel.

The name of the show is "WE'RE ONLY IN IT FOR THE MOUSTACHE", which ties Zappa's album title with my "LIVING WITH A MOUSTACHE" (and his facial look with mine as well). I think Frank himself would appreciate it.
